Robb Achieves Another Great Win

Oulton Park - 11 May 2002 - Round 3

After the miserable weather at Snetterton, it looked like being a good weekend at Oulton Park. As the cars went out to quality on the 2.8mile circuit, Robb slowly went round at the back in his Honda to get some clear space.

Robb's first two laps were both under the lap record, which has stood since 1993. Setting a time of 2.00.77, Robb came straight into the pits confident that the time was good enough. Team-mate Danny Mills was second in his Rover class while Scott Tanner was fifth and Duncan Anderson was sixth. Robb had secured pole by over half a second which was a comfortable margin.

The race took place at about 4pm after a delay whilst the circuit was being cleared up from the previous race. Robb got a poor start and as they went through the first corner, was pushed onto Steve Alderton in the CRX and dropped to third with Andrew Delahunty leading.

Through Shell Oils for the first time Robb passed Steve and set about Delahunty who was a little bit harder to pass. A couple of times Robb got alongside but wasn't given any room but once again at Shell Oils, passed Delahunty and took a lead never to be caught. Steve Alderton eventually got into second and Dennis Bunning was third.

Meanwhile Danny Mills was having a race long battle in the Rover class taking the lead on lap seven and taking his first win of the new season whilst Scott Tanner came in fourth and Duncan, who had chased Scott all race until a huge moment at Cascades on lap six, finished fifth.

A good weekend for House of Westphalia Team and Robbspeed Racing where all the drivers involved collected some good points for the Championship.
