Robb Achieves a Great Win at Brands

Brands Hatch - 24 March 2002

The first race of the 2002 season got underway at Brands Hatch and Robb Addison got off to a good start in his new Honda CRX sponsored by House of Westphalia.

Robb qualified on pole position in his class and overall while team mate Danny mills, in his Rover GTI, qualified in fifth position.

As the race got underway, Robb got a good start and broke away from the rest of the field.   Robb was leading from start to finish with only one problem half way through the race when a slower car had a spin and rejoined in front of him, Robb had to take avoiding action.  Danny had a race long battle in the Rovers only to finish fourth but collecting some good points from the season opener.

As for the other Robbspeed entered cars, Dave Mellor in a Honda CRX got involved in a spin with Nick Howell in a Proton at Paddock Hill bend which dropped them down the field.  Dave fought his way back up to come fourth in class.

Scott Tanner in his first ever Rover GTI race drove a superb race to finish sixth in class and was one of only about three Rovers to come home with no damage.

Whilst the other Robbspeed car of Duncan Anderson in a Rover GTI had to be repaired after hitting the tyre wall in practice. Duncan came home tenth in class in what was only his 9th race in a Rover GTI.
