RACE REPORT

ROUND 7 - CROIX EN TERNOIS RACE 1

With only a small number of cars turning up for the double header in France both races seemed quite tame compared with the last few.

Once again Addison took pole position this time ahead of veteran MG racer Darryl Davis who made his first appearance of the season in his newly built MG ZR.  Peter Fiddes was on pole for the Maestro class ahead of Dave Gardner and Andy Campbell.

With changing conditions before the race, Robb opted to run with soft settings for the race and as the lights went out, it was Davis who took the lead from Addison around the outside into the first corner.  Addison repeated the move on lap two and took the lead.  Andy Combe was holding onto third whilst Kelly-Anne Mercer and Olsson were fighting for fourth.

Meanwhile, Andy Campbell had made his way to the front of the Maestro class ahead of pole man Fiddes.

By half distance, Addison had pulled clear of Davis who was busy holding off Combe and likewise in the Maestro class Campbell was comfortable in front leaving Fiddes and Gardner to fight out second.

Addison took the flat 6.7 seconds ahead of Davis and Combe with Olsson coming in fourth.  Campbell won the Maestros from Fiddes and Gardner with William Sharpe not far behind in fourth.

Fastest laps went to Addison and Campbell which were both lap records.

ROUND 8 - CROIX EN TERNOIS RACE 2

With the grid positions determined from the race 1 results, Addison would start on pole alongside Davis again.  The only major change was Campbell in the Maestros was on pole from Fiddes.

With the weather being a little warmer on Sunday the cars formed up on the grid for race 2.  As they went, Addison did the usual and went backwards, this time Davies got the clear lead and Combe and Olsson came alongside Addison into the first corner.  Davis was in front on the way to the hairpin with Combe on the inside and Addison on the outside.  After a bit of paint swapping and mirror banging Addison went round the outside of Combe and Davis, but Davis held his ground forcing Addison back behind until one corner later where Davis got sideways and allowed Addison alongside to out-brake him for the final hairpin.

As they came onto the straight, Addison had a couple of car lengths from Davis who was defending from Combe and Olsson.  Andy Campbell was having a battle with Fiddes, Gardner and Sharpe.  Fiddes took the lead, short lived, until he spun allowing Campbell, Gardner and Sharpe through.  Meanwhile out front, Addison had pulled away and Olsson had passed Davis to take second whilst Combe and Golhar this time had a coming together putting Combe out of the race.

Addison went on to win with Olsson taking second ahead of Davis, Golhar and Mercer.

Andy Campbell held on to take the double in the Maestro class ahead of Gardner who had his best result in second and William Sharpe third for his best result.  Also Sharpe got the fastest lap along with Addison in the ZR class.
