With plenty of paddock talk gone on since Brands Hatch, Dave Mellor had sold his MG ZR to Scott Tanner due to business commitments. This would relieve some pressure from Robb Addison and Paul Naish who are first and second in the championship. Scott Tanner meanwhile would not appear out in his new ZR until the double header at Snetterton along with fellow MG Maestro racer Darren Leonard.
Another scorching hot day saw the cars go out to qualify with Robb Addison taking pole position from Nick Golhar by nearly half a second, followed by Paul Naish and Andy Combe.
The first two rows of the grid in the Maestro class were filled by the PROPER BO RACING TEAM of Rob O'Boyle, Simon Byrne, Andy Campbell and Andy Firth. The weather for the afternoon race had got even hotter so as the cars formed up on the grid everyone was itching to get going and as the red lights went out it was Golhar who made the best start. once again, Addison couldn't convert his pole position into the lead.
But the race came to an abrupt holt as Andy Campbell would remember for a long time. On the restart, Addison got the better start for once and pulled into the lead with Golhar, Naish and Combe fighting it out for second. As the race went on Addison pulled well clear of the fighting pack behind and went on to win by nearly nine seconds, leaving Naish finishing second and Golhar third, whilst Andy Combe spun at Gerrards on lap 10 and retired.
Andy Campbell picked up the race win in the Maestro class ahead of Simon Byrne and Andy Firth, Addison and O'Boyle set the fastest race laps, O'Boyle finishing sixth after a coming together with William Sharpe on lap 8.
